Steps To Start A Blog For Profit

What are the best steps to start a blog for profit? Many bloggers start out with much enthusiasm only to find that their interest dwindles, and they give up blogging soon afterwards. Blogging is tough, and it takes considerable time and effort to see any financial reward through blogging. With that in mind, it’s best to get the foundations of your blog right, to reap the maximum benefits and ensure you’re in it for the long haul.

Steps To Start A Blog For Profit – What You’re “About”

steps to start a blog for profit

It’s a good idea to choose a suitable blog topic early on, before you create your blog. Getting clear on what you’re going to write about is going to help you choose a topic. If you want to write about many things, that’s ok. Just be aware that a generic blog might not do as well as a specifically targeted niche blog for traffic, or a “micro’ niche blog, which is an even more specific topic again.

A “niche” blog is a blog built around a specific topic. Niche blogs can work well in generating traffic from the search engines, because they are built around specific keywords and stick to a specific topic closely. This website, autopilot money making software, has been built around specific keywords to help it rank on Google. You can see how this website was built from scratch around these keyword in this article: “create free website and earn money”.

Steps To Start A Blog For Profit – Finding Your Niche

Google’s search results are the key to getting people to your blog. Most new bloggers struggle getting visitors to look at their content. So when you’re starting out, it pays to do some research beforehand. Think about what you would most enjoy writing about. What do you love and have a passion for? Combining your passion to make money through blogging is a great way to earn a living. But you need to find your passion, and link it to a product or service you can offer your visitors.

Affiliate Products – Monetising Your Blog

steps to start a blog for profit

Most passions and hobbies can be linked to affiliate products. So you don’t need to own any products of your own to make money from a blog. There’s thousands of affiliate products on the internet. To find a suitable product, you can do a Google search for affiliate programs in your niche area. Some bloggers will start with the product, rather than their passion. So it’s also a good idea to research products you have an affinity with. Ideally, choose to promote an affiliate product you would buy and recommend yourself.

When I started out learning about affiliate marketing and blogging, I promoted any old product, even if I knew nothing about it! This definitely isn’t a good idea. For starters, you can’t talk intelligently about a product you know nothing about. So you can’t blog about it. Also, the people you attract through your writing will often be like you. So if you genuinely recommend a product, chances are good that it’ll also be a good fit for your visitors and followers.

I recommend a product on my site. You can check it out by signing up to the free on-demand video series on this site.

Keyword Research – Or A Generic Blog

steps to start a blog for profit

If you’re going to create a specific niche blog, it’s a good idea to checkout Google free keyword planner and look for keywords which offer traffic, but have low competition. To find these keywords takes a little digging. See the basic keyword strategy I use in this article on micro niche blog ideas.

A good good, targeted keyword in your domain can help you rank your site for a number of keywords. It’s not completely necessary, but it can help you get some traction from your site. If you’re not sure what you’ll write about, choose a generic name for your blog which could be your name, for example.

Build Your Own Website

Once you’ve chosen your domain name, you’ll need to purchase a hosting account. You can do this for less than $10 a month and a domain should only cost you $10 or less if you choose wisely! See create website and earn money to see a break down of building your website from nothing.

It’s important to buy a domain name and host your own site. Without your own website, you’ll need to use a free domain or a free blogging website. These definitely aren’t recommended if you want to monetise your blog for a couple of reasons:

steps to start a blog for profit
  • Google don’t tend to rank free blog sites and free hosted sites well, or at all
  • Free blogging sites often don’t allow certain affiliate links
  • Your site won’t look as professional
  • You won’t be able to target specific keywords in your domain, or make it as personal to you

However, if money is an issue and you want to get started to “dip your toe in”, using a free blogging site can help you get some movement. See get paid for advertising online without a website for more on this topic.

Monetising Your Blog

There’s two main ways to monetise your blog. But before you think about this step, it’s a good idea to spend some time building content on your site. If you monetise too quickly, Google can peg you as a spammy affiliate and give your site less authority. Many bloggers wait until they have built up a following and good amount of traffic before putting any affiliate links on their site to avoid damaging their authority in the eyes of Google.

Affiliate Links

If you’ve found an affiliate program, you’ll be given specific links you can place within your text as you write. Or you can place affiliate banners on your site too, to link through to your products. Ideally choose products which are a good fit for your content, otherwise, you won’t make any sales. Ideally, avoid placing too many affiliate links in your content for the first few months. As mentioned already, Google aren’t keen on affiliates, particularly if their links take up more space than their content! That signals a “spammer” to Google!

Opt-In Forms

Opt in forms are a good alternative to directly linking to affiliate products. You can place them on your site to encourage visitors to opt in to your email list. From your list you can then promote your products. This can be a more subtle way to sell products, and potentially more “under the radar” to Google bots. To get an opt in form and start building an email list of subscribers, you’ll need an autoresponder. This is a piece of software which collects your visitors email addresses from your site, and can deliver a number of automated messages to them.

Building a list of subscribers is definitely the best way to monetise a website or blog. Selling things directly from a blog is difficult. Your visitor only has a short time to make a buying decision. But if you collect their email address, you can send them emails and keep in touch with them for much longer. This extends the time period with which a blog visitor can make a purchasing decision.

Alternate Monetisation

Another way to monetise your blog, apart from using affiliate products, is through Google’s Adsense program. Adsense lets you place code on your blog which is converted into advertisements. When visitors click on your adverts, you make a small commission based on the advertising fee Google charges the advertiser. You’ll only earn tiny amounts from each click, but if you have thousands of visitors this can add up. Plus it’s a passive source of income.

Steps To Start A Blog For Profit – Disclaimer

Once you decide to start a blog, you’ll probably be full of enthusiasm for it. Over time this can wane however. This is why it’s a good idea to choose a topic you love. If you’re super passionate about your topic, you’re much more likely to enjoy the process of writing. If you do, you’ll be able to sustain it for long enough to see some results. This is pretty important because if you don’t, it’s easy to lose your mojo and quit!

Businesses That Run On Autopilot

Online businesses that run on autopilot deliver products around the clock without any human intervention. Websites accept payment automatically, and deliver products globally, all without the owner lifting a finger! Anyone can be a part of this digital economy too. The business model is known as affiliate marketing. With affiliate marketing, anyone can step into the space of owning a “digital store” from anywhere in the world, and learn how to profit from the growing digital economy.

Businesses That Run On Autopilot – Affiliate Marketing

businesses that run on autopilot

Many businesses run partially on autopilot. Online advertising can run by itself, but with a physical business there needs to be someone serving the customers and delivering the goods. With affiliate marketing though, you can run an online business from anywhere and tap into a pre-existing business; operating solely as a referrer of customers to that business.

This can be done completely remotely, which is what makes affiliate marketing so attractive. Anyone can tap into someone’s business model and send customers to it for a share of the profits.

There’s many affiliate programs on the internet. Amazon is one of the best known affiliate programs online. Anyone can join Amazon as a partner and use their products to earn commissions on the sale of goods. Amazon may not offer the best deal to affiliates, but it does offer a huge range of products which anyone can use to earn from. Take a look at Amazon’s commission rates in the chart below.

These rates are subject to change and I believe at the time of writing, Amazon offers somewhere between 3 and 11% commissions on its product range to its referrers.

Businesses That Run On Autopilot – How Do Affiliates Generate Sales?

Affiliates generate sales by either building content and publishing it online, or running paid adverts to generate sales. Many affiliate marketers use an email list of subscribers to help build relationships with potential customers. They then automate a number of email messages which can be sent out to their subscribers. Email addresses can be collected from a website (like this one) by offering some free giveaway product to their visitors. Selling Digital Products Over The Internet – Businesses That Run On Autopilot

One of the most popular models of affiliate marketing is selling digital products. Digital products pay much larger commissions that physical products like you would find on Amazon. With a digital product, affiliates can earn up to 40% and sometimes even 50% commission on a sale.

Digital products don’t need posting and once manufactured, there’s far less expense involved in their creation than with physical products. Physical products carry many more costs than digital products do. With a digital product, there’s no need for storage, delivery or handling costs. Everything can be accessed and delivered over the internet with a digital product. The savings can therefore be passed on the the affiliate marketers who account for the largest costs: advertising.

Best Digital Products To Use

Some of the best digital products for an affiliate marketer to promote are offered by recurring commission affiliate programs. With a recurring commission program, you can benefit from many commissions from each individual sale. These tend to be products such as memberships and software products which offer ongoing value.

It’s also a good idea to choose products which offer a number of services within a product range. That way, you only need to promote the first product in a range, and you can benefit from sales which a customer may purchase later on.

Some of the best businesses that run on autopilot are ones which offer recurring commissions. Once you’ve sold multiple memberships or subscription products, your income keeps coming in month after month, regardless whether you continue working or not.

A Product Range

With most affiliate programs, you only sell one product. Once you’ve sold it, you need to keep finding new customers. The vendor (owner of the products) gets to keep the customer for the long term, but the affiliate loses out. Hence with many affiliate programs, the affiliate marketing isn’t building their own business – they are helping other companies build their businesses but never get to “keep” any customers for themselves!

With recurring commissions and a range of up-sell products, an affiliate benefits from the lifetime value of the products they promote, and gets continual commissions even years after their initial referral.

Multi-Tier Commissions

A multi-tier commission is a commission you earn as an affiliate based on the sales made by your team of referrals. This is another way to reward affiliates for the longer term. If you are interested in building a long term online business, multi-tier sales can dramatically help you because they give you a performance related pay which equates to the amount of successful affiliates you enlist into promoting a product range.

High Ticket Commissions

Product ranges which offer multiple high ticket products within their range offer huge potential for affiliate marketers. With a number of high value items in your “digital store” your business model lets you afford to more easily use paid marketing platforms. This in turn makes for a more easily scalable business than with many other lower value items you could sell. Having only low value items in your online business means you can’t afford to pay for marketing as easily. The best models use a combination of high ticket, recurring commission, multi-tier and use a product range with a built in sales team. Access a business model which offers all of these by signing up on this website for the free video series.

Strategies Used By Affiliate Marketers

Although affiliate marketing is one of the best and most easily accessible businesses that run on autopilot, it does take some time to get traction with an online business. There’s also a variety of different strategies you could choose when starting out as an affiliate.

Organic Marketing

Organic marketers use free or low cost marketing such as blogging or social media marketing. This is a slower strategy for affiliate marketers and it will depend on your business model and own personal circumstances which route you choose to take.

Organic strategies include niche websites, blogs, social media and other low cost methods to build a following and sell affiliate products.

businesses that run on autopilot

Paid Marketing

Paid marketers use marketing platforms such as Bing, Facebook, YouTube and Adwords to put their message in front of a very targeted audience. By starting small and finding out which strategy brings a positive return on investment, marketers can gradually increase their marketing budget and start to see traction quite quickly. It’s also wise to use a daily or monthly budget you can afford to lose in the first instance. The newer you are to marketing, the more likely it is you’ll spend money you don’t get back. As you get better, you’ll start to see sales and can play with larger amounts and scale up.

Autopilot Income System

What does it take to build an autopilot income system? Can anyone do it and what skills do you need? When I set out to create an autopilot income system, several years ago, I had no idea how to do it. I bought many courses about online selling, affiliate marketing and building online businesses. Checkout my digital profit course review in which I mention many of the courses I subscribed to.

I was inspired to do so after having purchased an ebook from eBay, over 10 years ago. It seemed like the perfect autopilot income system – to sell a digital downloadable product from the internet. Many people use the model of affiliate marketing to do just that – profit from the things people buy online every day all around the world.

Autopilot Income System – Affiliate Marketing

Before I found affiliate marketing I tried many other strategies to make money online. I started out buying and selling on eBay. But I soon realised that the strategy I used wasn’t able to be automated, or scaled up to a global audience. Checkout my original buying and selling strategy on ebay here: “How To Start A Profitable Ebay Business“.

I bought an ebook which taught this strategy. The ebook sale was simple: I paid online and was able to download the book instantly. This was the strategy I couldn’t let go of and which ultimately led me to the strategy I share later in this article.

As good as affiliate marketing is as a business model, it’s only as good as the affiliate using it. It’s very easy to fail as an affiliate when starting out. There’s plenty of pitfalls and it’s easy to make a lot of mistakes as an affiliate.

But the business model of affiliate marketing is the best I’ve found overall, after trying lots of other strategies.

Blogging And Google Adsense

When I first looked at online courses which claimed to teach autopilot income systems, I found this strategy; blogging and Google Adsense. By creating a blog you can attract website visitors. You can then monetise your content with adverts which are created by Google to suit your particular content. You only earn a tiny amount from each advert click, so you need a huge amount of website traffic to earn from this strategy. This is possible, but it takes a lot of time and effort to make it work successfully.

autopilot income system

Blogging can be profitable through using Adsense. However, I found affiliate marketing to be much more profitable. Affiliates can blog too, and make money by selling other people’s products through a blog. Most bloggers use email marketing in conjunction with their blogs. They collect their visitors’ email addresses by giving away something useful from their website. Then, they market affiliate products to their subscribers.

Autopilot Income System – What’s The Best Strategy?

The best strategy I’ve found with affiliate marketing is to use a combination of factors which maximise your earning potential:

  • Use Digital products – Digital products can be accessed from anywhere globally making them cheap to deliver and giving you a global customer base. Digital products also pay more than physical products typically – 40% compared to 3-10%
  • Use a product range, not just a single product. Single products pay you only once. With a product range, you can refer a customer once, and benefit from later products purchased by existing customers. With a good business model you can benefit also from a built in sales team, who close sales on your behalf.
  • Use recurring commission affiliate programs. With recurring commissions, you can earn a regular ongoing income from each sale. As your membership numbers grow, so does your income.
  • Use high ticket programs which offer larger than average commissions. With a high value product, you can earn upwards of $1000 per sale, rather than $40 per sale as with a lower value product. This helps you earn a positive return on investment and opens up more possibilities for using paid marketing platforms to advertise.
  • Multi-tier sales – multi-tier sales allow you to earn from sales made by your referrals. It encourages affiliates to help the people they have referred and rewards them for the success of their members.

Autopilot Income System – Marketing A Sales Funnel

Once you have invested in a high ticket sales funnel, you have all of these benefits to earn from. Once you are set up, you’ll need to market your funnel. This can be done in a number of ways including:

  • Paid marketing – using paid marketing platforms like YouTube, Facebook, Google, Bing, Yahoo, Instagram etc
  • Blogging – a blog can help you generate free leads and sales. This takes longer than using paid marketing but is obviously cheaper.
  • Video blogging – some affiliates create YouTube videos to generate traffic into their sales funnel.
  • Social media marketing – Social media platforms can be used for both paid marketing tactics and free strategies too.

Autopilot Money Making Methods

One of the most accessible autopilot money making methods is through affiliate marketing. With affiliate marketing, you sell other people’s products and services over the internet. When you make a sale, you earn a commission. Since you don’t have to fulfil customers needs yourself, (and act purely as a referrer of customers), you can automate the process. Customer service, product delivery and support is handled by another company, who pays you for a successful referral. Referrals are tracked online and you get paid for sales you have generated.

Affiliate Marketing

To get to the stage of having your affiliate marketing business running completely on autopilot takes some time and effort of course. Initially, you’ll need to learn how to set up the systems and processes to generate sales (See free video series on this site). Once you’ve set up a sales system, you’ll need to drive targeted traffic (visitors) into it.

autopilot money making methods

The fastest way to do this is to use a ready made sales funnel which has a range of products in it to sell. Some affiliates use physical products, like you’d find on Amazon for example; and others use digital products. The advantage of using digital products is that anyone can access them from anywhere. All they need is an internet connection and a laptop. There’s no physical postage necessary for digital products. Because of this, digital product owners can afford to pay affiliates much larger commissions. Often an affiliate can earn as much as 50% of a products value with a digital product.

See autopilot business for more on which affiliate business models are the best to use.

Autopilot Money Making Methods – Blogging

Blogging is a cheap way to gain exposure to either an existing business or for an affiliate marketing business. You can also monetise a blog through Google’s Adsense program. With Adsense, you place code on a website/blog and Google converts it into relevant adverts to show your visitors. When they click on your adverts, you earn a small commission. With enough traffic (visitors), you can earn a nice passive income from a blog. However, it takes time to generate the traffic and you’ll need to write blog posts regularly and promote them to build an audience.

autopilot money making methods

Another way to monetise a blog is through email marketing. Bloggers often build a list of subscribers by offering a free giveaway on their website (see my free video series). By building a list of email subscribers, a blogger can keep in touch with prospective customers and offer them affiliate products over a series of emails. A blog is international too, so affiliate products which are available globally are a good idea.

Autopilot Money Making Methods – Quora

Quora.com is a question and answer website which offers the opportunity of earning an income from advertising revenue on its questions. To get invited to join the Quora partner program, you need to be an active user. Start by setting up a profile bio, name picture etc. Then actively participate in asking questions and answering them. It might take a few months before you are invited, but stick with it because it’s worth it if you decide to go this route.

The average question asked on Quora will only earn you a tiny amount – only a few pence (or cents). But if you stick with it and ask multiple questions and keep doing so, this can mount up! Over time, your questions will continue accruing advert clicks and you’ll be able to earn passively from this if you ask enough questions. As you can see in the image below, top partners earn a nice income. However they do ask thousands of questions and this is over a long period of time. Initially, you can expect to see only tiny “trickles” of income.

Autopilot Money Making Methods – Investing

Of course investing deserves a mention here too! There’s lots of ways to earn passively from investing but one little strategy I found which anyone can use is an “app” called MoneyBox. The MoneyBox app allows you to invest in shares and stocks without any investment experience or expertise.

All you need to do is get the app and connect it to your bank account. The adjust the settings according to your preferences and the MoneyBox app will “round up” your bank card spendings to the nearest whole figure. So if you spend £0.99 pence in a store, it will round it up to £1 and take £0.01 pence out automatically to invest in your share portfolio.

This is obviously a long term investment however. Checkout the Moneybox app here.

autopilot money making methods

Recurring Affiliate Commissions

Going back to affiliate marketing, one of the best autopilot money making methods is recurring commissions. Recurring commissions is a great opportunity for anyone considering doing affiliate marketing. Many affiliate products only pay you once for referring a sale. With recurring commission products you can get paid over and over again for the lifetime of a customer.

Recurring commission affiliate programs are usually either membership programs or software products. Ideally choose products which you use yourself in the building of an internet business. Product types include:

  • Membership programs – training and education tools
  • Autoresponders – email marketing services
  • SEO tools used for online businesses
  • Plugins and website building tools and templates
  • Automated posting tools for bloggers

Recurring commissions are a vital key to success with affiliate marketing. You only need to make a few sales in order to build a reasonable recurring monthly income. With low value physical products which only pay from 3-10% commissions, you will have to work much harder to achieve a liveable income from your affiliate marketing efforts.

Lead Generation Methods And Strategies

There’s hundreds of lead generation methods and strategies for a business to use. Some are paid and some are free. Ideally use a combination of the two. Paid lead generation strategies include using paid marketing platforms such as Google Adwords, Bing, Facebook, Instagram and YouTube. These platforms offer a fast way to generate digital leads for your business and drive targeted traffic to a landing page where you can collect subscribers information by email.

Slower tactics include social media marketing, blogging and SEO. You can also build niche websites like this one. See how to build a niche website and get free traffic. These lead generation methods and strategies might be slow, but over time they are powerful. Once you start generating leads from your free and low cost methods, you are able to build on what you have done. Over time, and if you put in the work, you can build multiple streams of leads from a number of sources.

Lead Generation Methods And Strategies – Email Marketing

One of the cheapest ways for a business to start a lead generation strategy is to get a email marketing autoresponder. Autoresponders are pretty cheap (around $10 a month to start) and let you collect emails from potential customers. You can also automate the process and collect leads from a website or landing page. Autoresponder software lets you place some code on your website which collects your customers email address and name. Once entered into the database, you can send out relevant information and follow up with your leads via an automated series of email messages.

Email marketing

Lead Generation Strategies – Blogging

Blogging is a cheap way to generate website traffic and leads. Ideally choose a topic which is relevant to your business and write regular blog posts. Make this a habit and, over time you’ll build up a steady streams of traffic. Ideally use an SEO plugin (Yoast SEO is good) to help you write your posts for maximum effect. Share your posts as much as you can and use social media share buttons to give your readers the opportunity to share too.

Have a look at this free ebook for more help and advice with blogging optimisation and keyword research. Blogging by itself won’t get you leads but it will get you traffic, which you can convert into leads.

lead generation methods and strategies

Converting Traffic Into Leads

Converting website traffic into leads isn’t plain sailing. It can take some testing and measuring to do so. Many blogging focus only on generating traffic but neglect to test and measure a suitable lead generation strategy. Your website visitors will only opt in to your email list of you give them enough of a reason to. Only a small percentage of your website traffic will take the action of subscribing to your email list. So give them lots of opportunities to do so:

  • Have multiple opt-in options – pop ups, free ebooks, drop downs etc.
  • Give away something useful which is aligned with your content and products
  • Make your offer clear on all pages of your website
  • Focus on the benefits to your visitors of your free giveaways (not the features)
  • Use clear and concise benefit driven calls to action on your offers.

See also increase conversion rate on your e-commerce website.

Using Social Media For Lead Generation

Twitter, Linkedin, Pinterest, Instagram, Quora, Facebook, YouTube etc all can be used to generate leads. Social media is a great source of traffic if you can learn a strategy which works for you. Ideally choose a single strategy and get good at it. Avoid jumping from one strategy to another because it will dilute your attention. Joining the various social media groups can be a good way to generate some interest in your business through a website. You need to be aware of the rules of the groups you join however, because you don’t want to get banned for spamming!

Quora

Lead Generation Methods And Strategies

Ideally find a group in your business niche and answer questions on topics suitable for your business. I’ve found Quora a good source of website traffic using this simple strategy. Quora does allow links to a website if it’s a suitable piece of content relevant to your answer and if you also provide value in your answer. So Quora can work well with blogging.

First create content around your business on your website through blogging. Then find questions which relate to your content and answer questions on the site. Don’t just link to content as that is likely to get your answer removed. You should provide as much detail in your answer as possible. Then you can leave a link for a further resource to your blog content. This of course should also give visitors the option to sign up and become a lead.

Facebook – Business Listing

Facebook lets you set up a free business listing. This can be a useful strategy for lead generation because it can lead people to your content, where they can subscribe to your list. If you have a Facebook account you should be able to create a business listing. Go to facebook.com/business and click Create a Page in the top right hand corner.

Lead Generation Methods And Strategies

Set up a page listing with details of your website, email address telephone number and complete as many fields as you can. Once you have completed your listing, you can post on your timeline like you would on your normal Facebook account.

As you encourage more interaction on your page, people will share, like and click on your various links. This will lead people back to your website where they can become a subscriber. You can also run paid adverts from your business page too, if you wish. Ideally, pick a business name which is well targeted to keywords which are searched for linked to your business. This can help you pick up some free traffic from Google listings which find your Facebook page.

Google Places For Business – FREE LEADS!

Lead Generation techniques And Strategies

If you have a physical business, you can sign up for a free business listing with Google Places For Business. This lets you appear in the search engines at the very top of the listings. It takes less than an hour to complete a listing and you will receive a pin number in the post to verify you are at the address. You can also use this feature of Google to set up a home based business listing too. So even if you have an online business, you can take advantage of this feature if you get a little creative.

Remember once you’ve set this up it can be a source of traffic and leads for free. So it’s worth the short time needed to do so.

Lead Generation Methods And Strategies – Niche Websites

A niche website is a great way to generate traffic which you can convert into leads. Building a niche website can be done around specific keywords which relate to your business. Ideally spend some time using keyword research tools (like Google’s Keyword planner) to find keywords which are suitable to rank a site for. This site was built around the keywords “autopilot money making software“. It has managed to attract some traffic for free from Google. You can see what is involved in building a keyword targeted niche site in this article “create free website and earn money“.

The key to building a good niche site which attracts free traffic is the keyword research. If you choose keywords which are too competitive, you can have a hard time getting any traffic. Once you find your perfect keywords, choose a domain name and start creating some useful content which is relevant for your audience. If your content doesn’t reflect the needs of your target audience, you’re unlikely to find any leads from the traffic you find.

Paid Marketing – Direct Response Marketing

Paid marketing is in many ways far superior to free marketing strategies. For one, it’s much, much faster. You can set up a paid marketing campaign and start seeing targeted traffic to your website and leads coming in almost immediately. With free and low cost strategies, the results are much slower. So ideally use a combination of both low cost, free and paid marketing strategies.

Another benefit of paid marketing is that you can more easily increase your traffic and scale up. With certain organic strategies, you put in a lot of work upfront, often to see some slow results which aren’t easily scalable. Paid marketing is scalable, but you need to test and measure your adverts first, before you scale up. Make sure you know your numbers and have a good return on investment before increasing your budget. Checkout this book for more on direct response marketing.

Autopilot Business

The dream of owning an “autopilot business” is no longer an impossibility. The internet now offers anyone the ability to run an online enterprise without even needing any of their own products. 20 years ago this was much harder to do than it is today. Today, with a business model known as affiliate marketing, anyone can use their computer to sell other people’s products on the internet for a share of the profit.

But how easy is this to do successfully? What’s the best way to do it? And can anyone do it, even without the technical skills required?

Autopilot Business – Who Can Do This?

autopilot business

Anyone can learn the skills required to build an online business which can largely run by itself (access video series on this site). Like any business however, many fail on the journey. In fact over 90% of online businesses fail. That’s a huge amount. So what factors affect this failure rate, and how can you determine whether you’ll be in the 10% of people who don’t quit!

There’s a few reasons why there’s a huge drop out rate with affiliate marketing. Selling products over the internet is a skill, and it takes time to acquire it! Many who attempt online businesses either get lost in the many activities which don’t produce results, get overwhelmed or expect too much for too little effort.

A bricks and mortar business requires a large financial outlay. You need premises and staff and equipment. This excludes a large amount of people from even attempting their own business. An online business is easily accessible. You only need a laptop and internet connection. You don’t need your own products either. This can give many people false hope and expectations of what an online business can deliver. Many start expecting it to be easy, and find out that it’s far from it! These are just some of the reasons people claim affiliate marketing does not work.

What’s Involved In An “Autopilot” Business?

autopilot business models

An online business has a huge advantage over many other business models which require staff, business premises and regular working hours. The internet is always on! Internet businesses can serve people on a global scale and operate around the clock. Websites can deliver products and information to many people simultaneously. Plus, you don’t need to be physically present to deal with purchases and deliveries of products. Online business systems and strategies can allow you to scale up a business very quickly, once you get everything working automatically.

Initially, starting an online business can be daunting. Much of what you’ll do is based on trust. Trust is a valuable commodity in the online world. If you don’t believe you can do something, you won’t attempt it. By setting up automated systems such as websites, landing pages and email marketing campaigns, you can build a fully automated “sales funnel” from which to sell a range of digital products. See autopilot money making software.

Once set up, you can shift your focus to marketing. Using automated online marketing platforms, you can then test and measure your advertising, learning from the results and data which you’ll use as a feedback mechanism. Startup business models will test and measure their advertising until a time where it becomes clear what they need to do to scale up their business. Once this time arrives, they can increase their budget knowing that they will receive a good return on investment.

Best Autopilot Business Models

Without a good business model, it can be very hard to achieve a good return on investment. With low cost products, you’ll need to focus on marketing efforts which are cheap or free. It will take a lot longer to gain traction with an online business using these strategies. The best and fastest way to build an autopilot business is by using paid marketing strategies or direct response marketing. See the ultimate guide to online marketing.

In order to do so, you’ll need to be able to recoup your marketing costs and make a profit with the sale of your products. So ideally, you should have a number of ways to earn from the products you sell.

Multiple Earning Strategies

A high ticket affiliate program gives you large value products which you can earn from. Selling a high ticket product can give you a commission of over $8000 for a single sale. This goes a long way to establishing yourself a consistent marketing budget for your online business. At the very least you should choose recurring commission affiliate programs which allow you to build a solid monthly income from your online business. Ideally choose a business strategy which offers multiple earning strategies such as:

  • High ticket digital products – Pay large commissions and are easily scalable
  • Recurring commissions – offered by digital products and software products
  • A number of products within a range – “Up-sells” give you more opportunity to sell later to existing customers through a
  • Built in sales team
  • Multi-tier products – Multi-tier products offer the ability to earn from sales made by your referrals (or team)

Automated Business Systems

An online automated business system starts with a sales funnel with a range of digital products within it. (access one by signing up for the free videos series on this site). Once set up, you can send targeted visitors into it through a range of online marketing strategies. Having recurring commissions for membership sales gives you a recurring income. As long as you can tailor your marketing efforts appropriately, you can build a number of members who pay you ongoing commissions and make a profit.

All of this takes time and effort to set up and make profitable. But once you’ve done so, you can benefit from the hard work you’ve done previously by continuing to earn ongoing commissions and making sales through an automated business strategy. You can also scale up your business simply by increasing your advertising budget – once you’ve ‘tweeked’ your marketing to produce a profit.

Money Making Software

Affiliate marketers use money making software such as email autoresponders hosting providers and affiliate training tools and materials. Software programs are some of the best things to sell as an affiliate marketer too because software used for online businesses, or any business for that matter, carry ongoing commissions. Affiliate marketers use other people’s products to earn commissions by selling them over the internet. With recurring income affiliate programs, you choose to sell programs which offer memberships and software. With residual income affiliate programs, you can make money long after you refer a customer.

A typical online business uses at the very least a website hosting software and an email marketing software. Both of these are good for affiliates because you can earn ongoing commissions if you choose to promote them.

Making Money Software From Scratch

If you’re not already doing affiliate marketing, you can learn by signing up on this website for the free video series. Affiliates promote other people’s products by using various software to do so. You can use the same software you promote too, as an affiliate.

One of the programs I promote as an affiliate offers training and software products to help other affiliates build a business from scratch. Take a look at the video below (click image) for an example of a website building software:

money making software

But how do affiliate marketers use this money making software to actually make money?

Becoming An Affiliate Marketer

Anyone can become an affiliate marketer and promote other people’s products over the internet. Some affiliates build websites and write regular blogs. Others create videos and build email lists, and still others just use paid marketing to build internet businesses: all based on selling things they don’t even personally own.

Here’s a few benefits of becoming an affiliate marketer:

  • You can work from anywhere
  • Choose your own working hours
  • Build your business around existing commitments
  • Work from anywhere
  • Work around an existing job
  • There’s no earning limit
  • You have a global reach with an online business
  • Pay is performance related

Affiliate marketing is a strategy to enlist money making software within a completely flexible internet based business. But it’s not all upside! There are some drawbacks to using affiliate marketing:

  • You don’t personally own the business/products you’re promoting
  • Pay is performance related – you earn nothing for some time before you make any sales.
  • There’s a learning curve which can take time and effort.
  • Getting traffic (online visitors) is time consuming or expensive

The Sales Funnel

A sales funnel is what affiliate marketers use to sell their products and services. The funnel starts from an advertising platform or organic traffic generation. Some affiliates pay money to get their businesses going through advertising, and others build content. Building content in an attempt to send visitors directly to products or landing pages takes much longer than by using paid marketing.

money making software

Online visitors are sent to a landing page where they are offered a freebie giveaway products; like the free videos I offer on this site. From there, they enter the sales funnel and are sent direct emails offering the giveaway – a legitimate bribe which is of some use. The marketer will then usually follow up with regular emails promoting the product/s.

But the funnel doesn’t end there with a good range of products. Ideally, choose a range of products to promote rather than just one. With a product range, the affiliate can build regular customers who use software products which pay recurring commissions. Then they can also buy products later from the range you have.

This is a mistake many affiliates make. They choose to sell one products from which they can only earn single commissions. In a local store, the owner makes a large proportion of their income from the locals – people who are regular, loyal customers. The same should be true of an online business. With regular customers, you can earn small commissions on a regular basis. This helps to quickly establish a sustainable income from an online business.

Earn Money Software

One of the most popular earn money software ideas is app creation. An App can be bought from anywhere globally; and instantly downloaded to any smartphone, computer or tablet in the world. Which makes it a global business model. Most app developers use one of several business models to monetise their apps. You can either offer your app for free, with the choice of an upgrade, or charge upfront to download the app.

Many app developers opt to give the app away for free. Most people aren’t prepared to pay for an app, especially when many of them can be accessed for free. The app itself is free, and you only pay to remove adverts or upgrade the accessibility of the app.

Earn Money Software – A Stocks and Shares App

A great app anyone can use to make money from their smartphone is the Moneybox app. Moneybox is an app you can use to buy shares in certain companies and build up a stock and share portfolio. It lets you connect your bank account and “round up” spendings to the nearest whole amount automatically.

This means you’ll be putting small amounts into savings and investments on “autopilot”. It’s great if you know nothing about the markets, but would like to build up some investments or savings.

Affiliate Marketing

If you want to earn money with an online venture, affiliate marketing is your best bet. With affiliate marketing you can sell other people’s products over the internet. Affiliates use a range of software to help them build their businesses.

Software ranges from email marketing autoresponders, to sales funnels and paid marketing platforms. Most affiliate businesses can run completely on autopilot once they are up and running. This means the owner can work from anywhere and scale up to a global audience too. See autopilot online business. A good affiliate business will be built on a good foundation. This means using all the tools which can automate your business, and working specifically on scalable strategies.

An Email Autoresponder

An email autoresponder is a great piece of “earn money software” which is used by business owners everywhere. For an internet based business it is particularly useful because it can automate much of your marketing efforts. An autoresponder lets website owners collect their visitor’s email details and follow up with a number of automated emails. As your database of subscribers grows, you’ll be able to reach larger numbers of people with a single email.

earn money software

Some online business owners build their email lists into the tens of thousands of subscribers. By sending out a single email, they can sell hundreds, if not thousands of products over the internet globally. With digital products, affiliates can sell items online without being concerned about delivery costs or location of the customer. You can sell products over the internet from anywhere globally. And this makes for a very automated and scalable business.

Earn Money Software – Digital Products

Affiliate marketing is one of the best models for an online business. This is because you can use other people’s products and services. Simply refer people to a pre-existing business, for a share of the profit. Certain digital products are more lucrative than others too. For example, a popular affiliate program is Amazon.

Anyone can join Amazon’s partner program and promote any product from the site. But Amazon’s products are physical not digital and so have more costs associated with them such as manufacture and delivery. Amazon pays affiliate marketers from 3-10% commission on the sales they make.

earn money software
Commission rates on Amazon’s Affiliate Program (subject to change)

In comparison, certain digital products pay out 40-50% commissions on a sale. This is because advertising online products is one of the biggest costs for product owners. Digital products carry no delivery or storage costs. Once products are created, there’s no, (or very little), manufacturing costs with digital products. So the savings can be passed on to the affiliates who promote the product.

The best digital products to promote are the ones which offer recurring commissions. These tend to be software products and memberships. High ticket items also offer the best levels of commissions, and allow you to use paid marketing platforms to promote them.

Earn Money Software – Marketing Platforms

Online marketing platforms let business owners send customers directly to their websites. From there, they can collect the visitor’s email address and start a marketing campaign. Paid marketing platforms like Adwords, Facebook and YouTube, for example, are awesome bits of kit if you have a pre-existing business, or product to sell. Some of the most expensive marketing platforms offer the ability to super-target a specific audience by their interests, location, age and a number of other demographics.

When you get this right, you’ve got a great tool to build a business. Usually marketers start off with a small budget and learn as they grow their business. Once you get a positive return on investment from a marketing campaign, simply increasing the budget will bring you more customers. Get this right and it can be like turning on a ‘tap’ where money comes out the other end!

Make Money On Autopilot

“Surely it’s possible to make money on autopilot”? This was a question I asked myself several years ago. With the internet at your disposal, access to a global population, and the automation available online, why aren’t more people financially free? Why are they still stuck in low paid jobs, trading their time away for money? Why don’t they escape 9 to 5?

The industrial revolution introduced the trading time for money trap; with its arbitrary working hours and low pay. But we are now in the technological revolution. Robots and automation have already replaced many jobs and the trend is set to continue. Meanwhile, sales continue to grow in the online world. Online companies have already replaced many high street shops which simply can’t compete with prices and convenience. Maybe we should all be looking for a way to make money on autopilot to escape the trend and level up with new technology?

Make Money On Autopilot – How?

Over ten years ago I bought an ebook on the internet and figured it was a cool way to make money. Not buying things online, but selling them. Selling things online can be automated and scaled up. Particularly if you use digital products to sell. Anyone can now learn how to sell pretty much anything online. Providing a product has an affiliate program attached to it, anyone can send customers to that product and earn a commission based on the sale. The business model is known as affiliate marketing.

make money on autopilot

With affiliate marketing, you can sell products on complete autopilot. You don’t need to personally own the product, or even speak to customers. This makes affiliate marketing one of the best ways to make money on autopilot.

The technical aspects of building such a business too have been largely simplified. 20 years ago, you would need to be a computer programmer or at least be able to build a website from scratch. Nowadays, anyone can use some software to build a website without any knowledge at all. If you can send an email, you can learn how to use software to build a website. Checkout the video by clicking the image below where you’ll see some website building software in action.

Make Money On Autopilot – Affiliate Products And Automation

Making money on autopilot isn’t just about finding and selling products alone. It also involves learning marketing. Many people give up on the idea of building a legitimate online business because they just don’t know where to turn. There’s so many courses promising the Earth and underdelivering, that it’s a difficult arena to navigate. See 23 affiliate marketing mistakes newbie affiliates should avoid.

One of the main strategies to automating an online business is to choose the right products to sell. There’s so many affiliate products available online that it’s easy to go the wrong route. I spent a long time jumping from one system to another, without really getting anywhere. That’s because I wasn’t certain of a direction and so switched from course to course before getting any results with any of them. See my digital profit course review.

You need to find a system and strategy which you can automate which actually works. As an affiliate marketer, your job is to find a good strategy and repeat it. But until you do find a good strategy, it’s easy to think that affiliate marketing does not work. When you do find a good strategy, you can rinse and repeat it, and automate an income from the internet.

Scalable Marketing Versus “Free” Marketing

To really build an autopilot online business takes time and effort, plus a fair amount of courage. Scalable marketing strategies are those you pay for, by and large. They aren’t the free kind. So if you don’t have any money to invest in an online business, it’ll take much longer to achieve. To speed up the process though, you should consider using recurring income affiliate programs. These are programs which offer software and membership type products. With a recurring income from each customer, even if a small one, it’s easier to gain some traction and build an online business than with single items which pay you only once per customer.

Using paid marketing costs money and although it’s fast and scalable, you’ll be testing and measuring your marketing before you find a good campaign. This takes time and costs you marketing budget. Without a good range of digital products in your sales funnel, you’ll struggle to even break even, much less make a profit.

Using High Value Digital Products For Larger Commissions

High ticket products which offer memberships and recurring income to affiliates are your best bet with an online business. With multiple digital products in your product range, you can benefit from:

  • High ticket digital products – which pay up to 40% commission (compared to physical products which pay 3-10%)
  • Subscription items within your sales funnel – give you small ‘trickle’ income from each customer, potentially for life.
  • Multi-tier sales – let you earn commissions based on the sales made by your team of referrals.
  • A range of Up-Sells gives you an ongoing product range to offer to existing customers.
  • Using a pre-existing business model with a built in sales team lets you focus solely on marketing, and let the business run itself once you refer the customer

With a sales funnel like this, you can afford to spend on a marketing budget to build your email list. Without a good range of products, or products which offer multiple earning strategies, it’s much more difficult to build up momentum in an online business. Access an online business system and training platform which includes these kinds of products and an online training community. (Sign up to the free video series on this site).

With lower value products, you’ll need to focus on free marketing strategies instead. See free autopilot money making system.

Using Paid Marketing Systems To Scale Up Your Business

make money on autopilot

As discussed, it’s much harder to gain any traction with an online business when you don’t have a number of earning strategies from your sales funnel. If you’re using low value, or physical products, you’ll need to gain traction organically, rather than using paid marketing strategies. This takes much more time and considerably more effort to do.

With a high value sales funnel, you can use paid marketing to gain traction faster. But you’ll still need to learn marketing to do so. With paid marketing you can run an advert, see whether it works, and stop it if necessary.

With content marketing, you can spend a heap of time building content, publishing it and sharing it, without getting any results at all. The up-side of content marketing is that when something works well, it does so for free. The up-side of paid marketing is that when something works, you can more easily scale it up to a larger audience.
