There’s a few strategies to make money on autopilot for free. Back in the early naughties, I bought and downloaded an ebook from eBay. This struck me as the perfect way to make money from the internet – selling a digital, downloadable product. Over the following few years, I tried all sorts of strategies to replicate this simple digital transaction; from the other side (as a seller).
I created ebooks and tried to sell them. But didn’t make any sales. After buying an online course, I realised there was a better way; affiliate marketing.

To make money on autopilot for free requires some work. But to “autopilot” an online sale can be relatively simple. Simply sell a product to someone which you don’t personally own. Affiliate marketing gives anyone this opportunity.
As an affiliate, you can choose from thousands of online products and become a seller of them. When you make a sale, you earn a commission. Online sales can be tracked back to your affiliate link. So you can sell a product without having to deal with a customer or even touch the product yourself.
Affiliate marketers use all kinds of strategies to sell products. Here’s just a few:
- Direct response marketing – not free but the best method by far.
- Social media marketing – Create a following on a social media platform and lead people to your products
- Blogging – Blogging is one of the most popular low cost strategies. It’s slow but cheap or free.
- YouTube – YouTube can be used as a paid platform or for free. Build up a bank of content which generates considerable traffic (visits) and send your followers to affiliate products.

Make Money On Autopilot For Free
One of the best strategies I used was writing content on a site such as Hubpages.com. Hubpages lets writers create content for free, even without their own website. Over time, and with a lot of work, you can build a huge amount of content which leads customers to products online. You can also make money using Google’s Adsense program using this platform. When people click on your adverts, you earn small commissions. You’re effectively getting paid for advertising without a website.
One of the best things to write about is products. If you review a product in your content, you attract people seeking to buy. This is a huge key to finding the right audience. If you attract the right people, you’re more likely to make sales. Review websites, or content is great for affiliates because it usually attracts buying customers.
One of my very first sales online came from a review I had written on Hubpages. I paid nothing to make this sale; it just took some time to write the article.

The Problem With Completely Free Strategies
The main problem with completely free strategies is they take time and effort. But if you’re patient enough, you can start generating results within a few months if you go about it right. You’ll need to create a lot of content though and of course your results are never guaranteed.
You’ll also have to likely spend a lot of time creating content with no results at all. This is difficult to maintain, especially if you don’t fully trust the process. If you have some money to spend, the best thing you can do is get your own website and an autoresponder. You can use free autoresponders such as mailchimp if you’re low on funds. However, I’ve personally found Aweber to be much more user friendly.

Choosing The Right Affiliate Products
A good affiliate product will reward you well. Many newbie affiliates choose products which pay very little and only reward them once. I did this too when I started out. The best products are ones which give the end user lifetime value and pays the affiliate ongoing commissions. These tend to be software products and memberships.
Recurring income affiliate products offer the affiliate the best returns for their efforts. They can sell an item once, and make ongoing income forever.
Finding the right customers for the products is a challenge however and it’s well worth getting some training on this.
But with the right products and a good strategy you can maintain for at least 6 months without seeing a return, you are good to go!
No One Said It Would Be Easy!
Yep I said 6 months! For a free strategy to work, you need to plug away at it for a long time. You can speed things up of course and it will depend on your strategy. But blogging, for example is definitely a slow burner.
I made a few early wins when I started out with affiliate marketing. But you need to stick at it for a long time if you want to see consistent results. Plus you need to work consistently.
