A long time ago, I looked for ways to “autopilot” make money at home opportunities. It was the beginning of a long journey. I started out with eBay and bought and sold items from the auction store. Then I found a little eBook which taught me a strategy to buy and sell on eBay. You can read about it in my article how to start a profitable eBay business. However, this business wasn’t an “autopilot” one. It involved buying misspelt items for less than they would sell with a better listing. It involved work and time and couldn’t be scaled up and automated.
I knew there had to be a better way. So I thought about the eBook I had bought teaching the eBay strategy. It had been an automated transaction and nobody needed to physically post anything. I decided that this was what I needed to be able to build an “autopilot make money at home” business.
Autopilot Make Money At Home – Affiliate Marketing
To autopilot an online sale is quite tricky, especially if you don’t have any products to sell. You need something which is useful and in high demand. With a physical product you still need to physically post it out. With digital products, like an eBook, it can be downloaded instantly to anywhere in the world. My quest to learn these tactics led me to a business model called affiliate marketing. Affiliate marketing is a means for anyone to get on the other side of online transactions, and earn from the sale of products being sold on the internet.
There’s thousands of affiliate products to choose from and initially, I made a few mistakes. See my article 23 affiliate mistakes newbie affiliates should avoid. Long story short, affiliate marketing can be tough! You need the right guidance and to stick to a path for long enough to start seeing some results. Otherwise it’s far too easy to either keep jumping from one strategy to another, or quit altogether.
Autopilot Make Money At Home – My First Online Sale
My journey towards an “autopilot make money at home” business, started with an online training course. I took several courses over a number of years. You can read about some of them here: digital profit course review here. Many of the courses I took taught different approaches, which is partly why it took so long for me to become profitable. But also it’s difficult to build a sustainable online business on the shifting sands of Google algorithms, which was one of my tactics early on.
My first sale however came from an article I wrote on a site called Hubpages. Hubpages lets you write content for free and (at the time) link to affiliate products. I believe the rules are slightly tighter nowadays. You can learn about free blogging tactics from my article here: Get Paid For Advertising Without A Website. Anyway, I had written a review article about a website building software called XSite-Pro and it sold and earned me my first commission. I was ecstatic! I had managed to “autopilot” a sale, in a way. But I wasn’t able to repeat it.
How To Build A Solid Online Business
The main reason I couldn’t repeat my sale was that I had used free marketing and relied on someone finding my content. This is a difficult strategy to scale up. You need to create a lot of content in order to gain even some modest traction in your business. It can be done, but it is time consuming and labour intensive! Not exactly the autopilot make money from home strategy I had in mind!
Building an online business which is sustainable, and profitable, takes a different approach; one I wasn’t to understand for a few years. I struggled with other strategies but never really got my online business off the ground. Not until I found a better business system and strategy.
To build a really sustainable business which is both automated and scalable takes a clever business model. Paid marketing is the best strategy to “autopilot” a business online with. But it’s expensive. So you need the right range of products to recoup your advertising spend, which accounts for most of your business expense. Without large value and recurring income affiliate products, you’ll be unable to run paid adverts for long without incurring a loss which is unsustainable.
Learn From Others – Not Just From Your Own (or my) Failures!
An autopilot online business can work as such, but only after you’ve put the work in beforehand. To build a real, online business takes time and effort. Having the right strategy from the start will help massively. It took me years because I didn’t get the right help from the start. But also I (wrongly) believed in a quick-riches “system” which did all the work for me. I’m sorry to disappoint you but it doesn’t exist! Despite the many “guru’s” claiming it!
